Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu affirming his intent to address the UN General Assembly in New York in September 2026, despite NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani urging federal enforcement of an ICC arrest warrant over Gaza-related charges.

Zohran Mamdani, elected NYC mayor in 2025 as a Democratic Socialist and sworn in January 2026, previously campaigned on arresting Netanyahu if he visited and recently called him a "war criminal" while acknowledging the city lacks independent authority to act.

Netanyahu responded in a July 26, 2026 Fox News interview by rejecting the ICC warrant as "bogus," accusing Mamdani of fomenting hate against Jewish New Yorkers, and stating he will proceed with the visit to speak for the Israeli-American alliance.
